2022 has proven to be a challenging year for the construction industry. With unprecedented demand, we have faced headwinds that show little sign of abating. With a critical workforce shortage of 105,000 workers within the next 12 months, low employment and a high worker demand we are entering period where innovation and forward thinking are key.
The Future Infrastructure Summit is an industry focused event where digital best practice and process meet. Building on the success of the 2018, 2019 & 2021 Summits, the 2023 Summit is to be held in Brisbane on Wednesday 22nd March 2023 .
Our goal for the Future Infrastructure Summit is an industry focused, day long event short on sales and big on industry case studies and real-world application of Lean, BIM and GIS in Australia and around the world.
We are looking for experts in the application of the above areas within the Australian infrastructure and construction sectors to present 18 min TED style presentations in main sessions, sit on industry panels, or possibly present workshops in the breakout areas.
The deadline for abstract submission is at 5pm, Wednesday 21st December 2022 Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST).
Abstracts will be reviewed by the Future Infrastructure Summit committee and presenters will be notified by the 20th January 2023. In Person individual speaking spots at the physical event may be limited, however, a greater number of sessions will be held in a digital only format

The Future Infrastructure Summit provides a unique and remarkable opportunity to join a limited group of fellow industry leaders and learn from global experts who are using Lean thinking and Digital Engineering to navigate these challenges while enhancing the value their organisations provide on projects. Enhancing productivity is all about being able to do more with the limited resources we have. This year’s theme focuses on the many ways in which digital engineering, and lean thinking and tools, provide the best opportunity for industry to become more productive while enhancing the safety and sustainability of our projects.
Whilst we are open to a wide range of topics, we’re particularly interested in industry focused talks and training sessions within the spectrum of:
- Doing more with less
- Overcoming the challanges of Covid
- Enhancing Productivity
- Implementations of Lean Construction systems in Australia, Last Planner, 5S, Kaizen, etc.
- Collaborative Contracting (in particular, IPD)
- Using technology or process improvement to increase productivity
- Industry case studies of Lean, GIS or BIM implementations
- Benefits and challenges of open data exchange & using IFC
- Digital Twins & Reality Capture
