Brisbane Day 2: Technology stream

The Technology stream on Day 2 goes deeper into the tech behind digital infrastructure — from BIM to GIS, point clouds to 3D reality meshes, and the tools and techniques used by the top tech experts in their field within construction and infrastructure.

It’s a low-cost, high-value day, where you’ll learn about Reality Modelling, techniques, workflows,  collaboration in the cloud, the importance of data, and much more.

Tickets to the Melbourne Day 2: Technology stream also includes free access to the Melbourne Day 2: Digital Engineering & BIM stream, which is run in parallel at the same venue (click here for the DE/BIM stream agenda).

Each one hour session consists of a 45 minute workshop/presentation and a 15 minute networking break.

Please note that Day 2 tickets are seperate and in addition to Day 1 Conference tickets.

Early Bird tickets are available now for a limited period only! Don’t miss out!

Why Are We Dropping the Ball? How to Avoid Cost Blowouts, Keep to Schedule, and Take Back Control of Your Commercial Position on Infrastructure Construction Projects

Large construction projects across asset classes typically take 20% longer to finish than scheduled and are up to 80% over budget.

What's worse is that this troubling trend seems to we largely accepted as status quo by industry professionals. Why is this? Why are we consistently dropping the ball when it comes to timely and efficient project delivery?

We believe that it comes down to data capture, management and transparency. Mobile and cloud-based technologies are beginning to drive improvements in productivity across construction projects. Replacing outdated systems with these new methods allows project teams to track costs and achieved quantities in real time. Crucially, real-time solutions give construction companies more control over production by allowing them to avoid major cost blowouts before they happen.
Speakers:
Andrew Chalker (sitemobi)

Glen Burke (Bentley Systems)
Sales Engineer, Digital Cities — Bentley Systems
Glen Burke recently joined Bentley Systems in 2018 after working in the technology and GIS software sector for organisations such as Esri and eSpatial. Glen’s role at Bentley is focused on working with government and the private sector to demonstrate the benefits of adopting Bentley's Reality Modeling and Photogrammetry solutions. Reality modeling is innovative software supporting and driving disruptive technologies such as 3D modelling, IoT and Digital Cities. Glen holds a bachelor’s degree in Spatial Planning from Technological University Dublin and a master’s degree in Geographical Information Science from the University of Manchester. Glen works out of the Bentley Systems Queensland office in Brisbane, Australia.
