Working mostly with large mining and infrastructure Clients in the public and private sectors, Genéne solves complex IoT portfolio, program and asset management problems. More recently, Genéne has bought a digital twin in brown field mining sites to life.

As an accomplished design and systems thinker working with Executives Genéne translates data, analytics and strategy alignment into good governance…demonstrating how tools like digital twin are real game changers. Genéne has an MBA, Graduate Diploma in Organisational Psychology and Bachelor, Applied Science and is the CEO of im.vision.

Tell us a bit about your background and how you came to work in digital construction?

As a leader in strategic program management, I have focussed on formalising the direct relationship between organisational strategy, new & sustaining capital value creation, project requirement and work completed which has led to the outcome of digital twinning.  It is reasonable to assume that this makes me a nerd with personality.

What is the most exciting thing about your role?

Seeing the joy in people’s faces when they understand and appreciate the value of digital twinning

Can you tell us a bit about the projects you’re working on and what role innovation and technology is playing? 

in one example we have developed a modern day partnership of space-sensors-digital twinning to resolve remote critical system down-time problems; in another we are working with a school, providing a dynamic digital twin to accelerate STEaM innovation,. Students will have the ability to learn and manage their water, power, solar, lighting, pumps etc. We have also digitally twinned a mine.

What challenge in your work life would you most like a technology or process to help solve?

I am already doing it with dynamic digital twinning… I am leading the way 

How important is the Future Infrastructure Summit to the industry?

Very…it actively reduces aversion to risk, demonstrating that action is being taken to grow / improve / evolve the industry

Can you tell us a bit about your session at Future Infrastructure Summit 2019?

My session covers the lessons learnt from digital twinning, including risks resolved, myths dispelled and how to harness the power of the already existing digital [twin] components / capabilities / infrastructure

Tell us a fun fact about yourself that most people don’t know. 

As the first professional women [& graduate] on a mine site I lived in the brothel, there was no other accommodation for women.

What do you see as the most interesting and exciting future applications for digital technology in construction? 

Dynamic digital twinning. Anyone, anywhere, using the same screen being able to their relevant information. Digital twinning will proactively solve problems and strategically improve organisational value.
